SCULPTURE FOUNTAINS GARDEN DESIGN

Tom Leaper is one of the foremost sculptural artists and designers in the west of England, whose work can be seen in public and private settings in many parts of the West Country, Isles of Scilly and also in numerous private residences across the country up as far as North Yorkshire. He’s also fulfilled commissions internationally in Portugal, Vermont USA and France. He combines the imaginative skills of the true artist with immense practical knowledge and experience enabling him to work on any scale and in most media.

His portfolio includes an astonishing variety of three-dimensional objects, from figurative sculpture to large bronze abstracts. His extensive knowledge of sculpture, fountains and garden design, has been built up over thirty years, giving him the experience to create imaginative solutions for clients working within a design brief.

Whether working on a private or public commission he liaises closely with his client, taking their initial thoughts and ideas and expanding them into a tangible quality end product, tailored to their requirements.

He is able to conceive striking outdoor creations which sensitively take full account of setting, including light, weather, differing perspectives, and kinetic elements. He works seamlessly with architects, engineers and building teams, to bring imaginative designs to fruition.

Public sculptures include the poignant Fishermen’s Memorial at the port of Newlyn, and numerous markers for English Heritage and the South West Coastal Footpath. His private commissions can be seen in some of the finest English gardens in the country , including Tresco Abbey, Arley Hall and Trewithen to name but a few.

His approach to his work is not blinkered by his own particular vision - he takes a great deal of time to research, discuss and refine whatever concept his individual client is seeking, before translating this from a feasible design, right through to the finished work of art. However he takes great pleasure in letting his imagination bring in left-field elements of the unusual, even the playful, to achieve the special signature his work has achieved over the years.
